Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee

Section 11(1) of the Ordinance provides for the establishment of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee to advise the Privacy Commissioner on matters relevant to the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data or other matters relevant to the implementation of the Ordinance. The Secretary for Home Affairs appoints the Members of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee which is chaired by the Privacy Commissioner.

During the period under review, the Committee met for the twentieth-second time.

At the twentieth-second meeting of the Committee, held on 15 June 2006, members advised at length on the establishment of the Data User Registration Scheme, alongside the discussions of the use of biometric authentication in schools, the disclosure of data of email subscribers and the survey findings of public sector on Privacy Impact Assessment.
