Section 11(1) of the PD(P)O provides for the establishment of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee to advise the Privacy Commissioner on matters relevant to the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data or otherwise relevant to the implementation of the PD(P)O. The Privacy Commissioner is Chairman of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee and its other members are appointed by the Secretary for Home Affairs.

During the period under review, the Committee met for the seventeenth and eighteenth time.

At the seventeenth meeting of the Committee held on 5 August 2003, members were advised of the development of Privacy Compliance Audit and Privacy Compliance Training. At the eighteenth meeting of the Committee held on 2 December 2003, members were presented with the Report on the public consultation in relation to the Draft Code of Practice on Monitoring and Personal Data Privacy at Work and the development of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner's involvement in the APEC Privacy Initiative. Copies of all agenda, papers and minutes of meetings of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee are available on request and payment of a minimal fee to cover photocopying costs.
