"Personal identifier" means an identifier -

but does not include an individual's name used to identify that individual.

(Section 2 of the Ordinance refers.)

For the avoidance of doubt, an e-mail address is deemed not to be a personal identifier for the purposes of the Code.

"Furnishing" or "provision" of a copy of an identity card may include the furnishing or provision (as the case may be) of the identity card solely to enable the making of a copy thereof immediately, to the extent such furnishing or provision in the circumstances does not constitute an offence under the Registration of Persons Ordinance (Cap.177).

Note : It is an offence under section 7AA of the Registration of Persons Ordinance for any person to transfer an identity card to another person without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
